Judith May Carlson, formerly of Trenton, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Cambridge Manor, Cambridge, NE. She was 75 years old.
Judith was born on November 29, 1938 at Oak Park, IL to parents, Harry Bourne and Grace Evelyn (Staab) Rogers. She graduated from Hinsdale Township High School, Hinsdale, IL in 1956. After graduation she started working for the railroad as a teletype. It was there that she met her future husband Lanny Eugene Carlson. They were later married at Marion Hills, IL on November 9, 1957.
Eventually the family relocated to Trenton where Lanny was originally from. Judith was a busy homemaker and mother of three children, Bill, Peggy, and Terry. In 1993, she became a licensed Lay Minister for the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Herndon, KS.
Judith was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and Bethel Chapter of Eastern Star #109 of Culbertson which later consolidated with Eureka Chapter OES #86 in McCook. She had a passion for all animals and birds especially her cockatiels, finches and guineas. Her other interests included gardening, crocheting, avid Husker fan, and spending time with her family. She was awarded Nursing Home Volunteer of the Year throughout Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Lanny Carlson; parents, Harry and Grace Rogers; and brother, Kenneth Rogers.
Survivors include her children, William “Bill” Carlson and wife, Nicole of Harker Heights, TX, Terry Carlson and wife, Reva, of Trenton and Peggy and husband, Greg Fyn, of McCook; one sister, Ruthann and husband, Norman Yeaton, of Rochelle, IL; brothers, Harry “Corky” Rogers and wife, Birgit, of Lafayette, CO, Arthur Rogers and wife, Chris, of Port St Lucie, FL, and James Rogers and wife, Tina, of Lisle, IL; seven grandchildren, B.J. (Kristen) Carlson, Ryan (Arica) Carlson, Tara Piper, David Paprocki, Lanny D. (Kacey) Carlson, Chancy Carlson, and Cedar Carlson; four step-grandchildren Ruby Anderson, Virginia Anderson, Luther (Lacie) Anderson, and Rio Klimek; seven great-grandchildren with one on the way; and six step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, family and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 15, 2014, 1-6:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at McCook Christian Church with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial will follow in the Trenton Cemetery.
