Julia Ann (Milligan) Martin died at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook on Friday, March 26, 2010. She was 88 years old.

She was born in McCook on April 28, 1921 to Charles Thomas and Ida Marie (Gordon) Milligan, Jr. She graduated from McCook High School in 1940 and McCook Junior College in 1942.

She married Earle R. G. Smith in 1944, and he lost his life in an airplane accident while serving in the U.S. Air Corps.

Julia married Kenneth Robert Martin on October 1, 1948 in McCook. Following their marriage, they made their home in Denver for 14 years, and then moved to the Chicago area in Illinois in 1962. They moved back to McCook in 1984 following Ken's retirement from United Airlines.

She enjoyed music, knitting, making greeting cards on the computer and most of all her family.

She was a member of St. Albans Episcopal Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Eureka Chapter #86, Social Order of Beauceant, Assembly #177 in North Platte, and the Magna Carta Dames.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Earle in 1945; sister, Virginia Marie (Milligan) Pankow.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth of McCook; son, Ronald Smith and wife, Gail of Aurora, CO; daughter, Mary Keslin of McCook; brother, Charles Milligan of Cortez, CO; grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Timothy Smith, Catherine McGehee, Kenneth Keslin; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials were to be given in her name.

Memorial services were Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St Alban's Episcopal Church with Rev. Mary Hendricks officiating, with inurnment in St. Alban's Columbarium.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
