Keith Dwaune Redfield of rural Palisade passed away at his home on Monday, March 5, 2012. He was 59 years old.
Keith was born at McCook on May 18, 1952, to Dwaune E. and DeVeta V. (Collicott) Redfield. He attended grade school at Beverly Dist. #48 and graduated from Palisade High School in 1970 where he was a member of the basketball and track teams. He continued his education at Milford VoTech and graduated with a degree in mechanics.
After graduation, Keith became a mechanic for Cliff Smith in Palisade for many years. He later had his own harvest crew and did over-the-road trucking. He remained an integral part of the family farming operation. He enjoyed doing custom work with his cousin Craig Redfield.
Keith was a member of the Palisade United Methodist Church and Imperial Eagle's Club. He volunteered endless hours for the Palisade American Legion and had been a member of the Palisade Rural Fire and EMT Rescue Squad. In his free time he loved to tinker on cars and work on farm machinery. He was there to support his three sons with their activities even though many miles separated them. Family and friends were an important part of his life. His true passion was anything to do with John Deere and Chevy's.
Preceding him in death were his son, Mitchell Redfield; daughter-in-law, April Redfield; maternal grandparents, Charlie and Galena Collicott; and paternal grandparents, Eugene Redfield and Myrtle Maris.
Survivors include his sons, Timothy Redfield of Holdrege and Chancelor Redfield of Fort Lupton, CO; parents, Dwuane and DeVeta Redfield of Palisade; sisters, Sharlene and husband, Joe Baker, of Brighton, CO and Kaylene and husband, Dick Luedtke of Columbus, NE; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends.
Memorials may be given in his name.
Visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2012, from 3-8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 10, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at the Palisade United Methodist Church with Rev. Bonnie McCord officiating. Burial will follow in the Palisade Cemetery.
