Kellie Denise Mullen of McCook died Thursday, June 1, 2006 at Community Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 42 years old.
Kellie was born on July 20, 1963, in McCook, to Robert Paul and Marilyn Louise (Brown) Malleck. She graduated from McCook High School in 1982 and McCook Community College in 1984.
On October 15, 1983 she married James D. Mullen in McCook. To this union three children were born. She was a homemaker and she and Jim owned and operated the Maywood Market from 1996 to 2004. They moved to McCook in late 2004.
Kellie was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Altar Society. She avidly took part in the cancer walk for four years. She loved spending time with her children and granddaughters.
Preceding her in death were her maternal and paternal grandparents; her father, Robert on January 15, 2006; and one brother, Christopher Malleck.
Survivors include her husband; James Mullen of McCook; two daughters, Jessica Dawn and husband, Casey Meguire, of Trenton and Ashlie Diane and husband, Albano DaCosta, of Kearney; one son, Joshua James Mullen of McCook; her mother, Marilyn Malleck of McCook; one brother, Ray Malleck and wife, Joyce, of Holyoke, CO; two sisters, Joan and husband, Randy Bass, of Culbertson and Cheryl and husband, Deon Leitner, of McCook; two grandchildren, Bailey Dawn Meguire and Mira Margareth DaCosta; numerous family and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials were to be given in her name.
Rosary was on Sunday, June 4th, 2006, 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, June 5th, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Burial in the Calvary Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
