Kenneth Leroy Weaver

Kenneth Leroy Weaver, age 76, of McCook, NE passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.

Ken was born August 9, 1943 in Leadville, CO. Ken graduated from high school in Corvallis, OR. He went on to further his education by attending the University of Oregon where he obtained his BS in Public Affairs.  He also attended East Tennessee State University where he earned his M.C.M. in City Management as well as the University of Nebraska, earning his PhD in Leadership Studies.

On July 30, 1980, Ken married the love of his life, Mary (Kelly) Weaver in Salem, OR.  Over the years, Ken served as a city manager in seven different cities, including McCook.  He also proudly served in the United States Military for over 30 years, including active duty in the U.S. Army, the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force during the Cold War and the Vietnam Era.

Ken enjoyed reading and was a lifelong learner.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 203 in McCook and a 3rd Degree Knight at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Virginia Weaver; and his granddaughter, Sylvia Ahrens.

Those left to celebrate his life include his wife of 39 years, Mary (Kelly) Weaver of McCook; daughters, Maura Weaver of Canton, GA and Katrina (Andrew) Wetton of McCook; sons, Mikhail (Carrie) Weaver of Bennington, NE and Karl Riding of Utah; sister, Karen Bruder of Bakersfield, CA; and seven grandchildren, Erik, Seth, Liliana, Patrick, Alice, Faye and Luka.
