Kim D. Fassler died Tuesday March 31, 2009 at Community Hospital in McCook after a short and courageous battle with cancer. He was 63 years old.
He was born in McCook on June 12, 1945 to Donald W. and Merylin Rebecca (Rippen) Fassler.
He graduated from Culbertson High School in 1963.
Kim married Carla Suzanne DeWester in Benkelman on April 23, 1966 and to this union four children were born, Danny, Donald, Dee and Darr.
He lived all of his life in the Culbertson area. He was a farmer and a truck driver most of his life. He and his wife owned and operated C & K Fassler Distributers.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, McCook Elks Lodge and Eagles club. He loved hunting and drag racing. He collected die-cast race cars. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially during the cream can parties.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Merylin; father-in-law, James DeWester; step father-in-law, Keith Springer; and brother-in-law, Robert Jumps.
He is survived by his wife, Carla of Culbertson; sons Danny and wife Kelly Fassler of North Platte, Donald and wife Erica Fassler of Omaha, Dee Fassler of North Platte; daughter Darr and husband Jeremy Nickerson of Culbertson; sister, Janiece Jumps of Culbertson; mother-in-law, Wynona Springer of Benkelman; brother-in-law Gary DeWester and wife, Jan of Wauneta; 10 grandchildren, Stephen, Kendall, Kayson Fassler, Jared and Makenzie Mortensen, Jasmine, Drew and Dunncan Fassler, Emily and Blake Nickerson; numerous nieces and nephews, family and a host of friends.
Memorials were to be given in his name.
Funeral services were Friday, April 3, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson with Rev. Cory Jenkins officiating. Burial took place in the Culbertson Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
