LaDonna "Donnie" Kay Anderson-Poore died Saturday, September 8, 2007 at McCook Community Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 47 years old.
Donnie was born on February 18, 1960 at St. Francis Hospital in West Point, Nebr. to Kenneth Sherman and Deloris Kay (Vieth) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lyons. She graduated from high school in 1978. She furthered her education at UNL with a Bachelor Degree in Family and Consumer Science. While she was in college she was a Member of Omicron Nu and Phi Delta Epsilon and Innocents Society in her Senior year.
On June 27, 1987 she married Thomas James Poore at the United Methodist Church in McCook. To this union three children were born. They made their home in McCook where Donnie taught Family and Consumer Science at McCook Public Schools up until the time of her death.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women's Circle, Disciple Bible Studies and Methodist Youth Advisory Board. She was also a member of Southwest Nebraska Community Theatre and past-member of Open Door Extension Club.
Donnie's hobbies included reading, sewing and needlecraft, woodworking, refinishing and upholstering furniture, and acting in community plays. She also loved taking her dog, Chip for walks. Another favorite of Donnie's was attending auctions with her mother-in-law, Mary, and decorating her home. Her most enjoyment came from spending time with her family.
Preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents, Gretchen and Herbert Vieth and paternal grandparents, Alice and E. Sherman Anderson.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Poore of McCook; children Ethan James, Joshua Thomas and Mariah Kay Poore all of the home; parents, Kenneth and Deloris Anderson of Lyons, NE; and brother, David Anderson and wife, Caryn, of Lyons.
Memorials were to be given in her name.
Funeral services were Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
