LaVeda "Maxine" Meissner died Monday, April 19, 2004 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. She was 75 years old.
Maxine was born on December 2, 1928, at Stockville, NE to Delva DeWayne and Wilma Dee (Blake) Smith.
On June 14, 1946 she married Robert Simmerman Meissner in Oberlin, KS. They made their home south of McCook. To this union one daughter, Marilyn, was born.
Maxine worked for TRW, Gibson's, and was head of housekeeping for Community Hospital. Her greatest joy came from baby-sitting for her great-niece and nephew.
She was residing at Hillcrest Nursing Home at the time of her death where she loved playing Bingo.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert on August 8, 2001; one sister, Geraldine Gonzales; and infant brother, Delva.
Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn and husband, Joe Mavigliano, of McCook; brother, Donald Smith and wife, Karen, of Aurora, CO; sister, Arlene and husband, Wayne Gillen, of McCook; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Memorials were to be given in her name.
Memorial services were Friday, April 23, 2004, 10:30 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Inurnment took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
