LeAnn Christy Johnson, 38, died Saturday, February 25, 2006 near Hayes Center, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
LeAnn was born January 30, 1968 to Gilbert D. and Patricia A. (McKinley) Stasser, at Burlington, CO. She graduated from high school in St. Francis, KS in 1986, and attended the Northwest Kansas Area Vocational Tech School in Goodland, KS receiving a degree in electronics.
She married Jon Johnson in St. Francis, KS on June 10, 1988 and to this union two children were born, Cody and Ashley.
She lived must of her adult life in Cloud and Jewell Counties in Kansas, where she worked at Trapper's Restaurant in Simpson, KS. In February 2005, she moved to Hayes Center, NE and worked as a desk clerk for Days Inn at McCook, NE. She loved animals, collected wolf artifacts, and was devoted to her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Patricia Stasser; maternal grandparents, Herbert and Lola McKinley; and paternal grandparents, Everett and Margaret Stasser.
Survivors include her daughter, Ashley and son, Cody of Independence, KS; brother, Larry Atkins and wife Cathy of Edgemont, SD; sisters, Kathy Ellis of Jamestown, KS, Paula Hebel, and Sherri Peterson and husband John of Fayetteville, NC; life partner, Mark Long of Hayes Center; and numerous family and a host of friends.
Memorials were to be given in her name for her children's trust fund, in care of Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, P.O. Box 476, McCook, NE 69001.
Memorial services took place on March 1, 2006, 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church in St. Francis, KS with Pastor Tony Christians officiating. Burial took place in St. Francis, KS and Hot Springs, South Dakota.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
