Leo Joseph Kometscher died Saturday, December 31, 2005 at Cambridge Hospital. He was 89 years old.
He was born April 29, 1916 at Lawrence to Henry and Catherine (Kuppenbender) Kometscher. He grew up and attended school in Lawrence.
He married Mary C. Walz on February 23, 1938 in Indianola. To this union three children were born.
He was a member of St. Catherines Catholic Church in Indianola.
He lived and farmed most of his life in the Indianola area. He enjoyed his family, farming and playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary in 1960; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; four brothers; three sisters.
Survivors include: two sons, Donald Kometscher of Indianola and Bob and wife Loretta Kometscher of Commerce City, CO; a daughter, Darlene Lashley of Trenton; a brother, Martin Kometscher of Lincoln; three sisters, Mary Walz of Indianola, Frances Borgerding of Freeport, MN and Catherine Wolf of Clare City, MN; seven grandchildren; one step granddaughter, 13 great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; one step great-great grandchild.
Memorials were to be given in his name.
Rosary took place Wednesday evening, January 4th Mass of Christian Burial was Thursday, January 5th at 10 a.m. at St. Catherines Catholic Church in Indianola with Father Paul Witt officiating. Burial in St. Catherines Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
