Leona May Houghtelling daughter of Ira Andrew and Matilda May (Fisher) Williams was born November 3, 1923 in Bird City Kansas. She departed this life Wednesday April 8, 2009 at Linden Court in North Platte Nebraska. She was 85 years old.
Leona married Milton J. Houghtelling, Sr. at Oberlin, KS in 1943. To this union there were six children born. There were four sons: Milton James, Jr., Kenneth Eugene, Richard Lee and Gilbert Dean, and two daughters: Carrie Ann and Diana Lynn.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ira and Matilda Williams; sons, Richard Lee and Gilbert Dean Houghtelling; sisters, Arlene Emig, Oma Lawver; brothers William, Russell, George, Dale and Harrison (Avery) Williams.
She is survived by her sons, Milton Houghtelling, Jr. of Denver, CO, Kenneth Houghtelling of Holyoke, CO; daughters, Carrie Klock of North Platte, Diana Wittman of Castle Rock, CO; brothers, Robert Williams of Chapman, ME, Verl Williams of Tulsa, OK; sister, Lois Pennell of Grand Island; 12 Grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Memorials were to be given in her name.
Funeral services were Monday, April 13, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Terry McCorkle officiating. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
