Leona Anna Regina Trout, formerly of McCook passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013 at The Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth. She was 90 years old.
Leona was born on March 1, 1923 in Okawville, Illinois to parents, Henry and Caroline (Wiechert) Hoelscher.
On April 9, 1944, she was united in marriage to Robert Edward Trout, Sr. in Mascoutah, Illinois. They eventually made their home in McCook where her husband was employed by the railroad and Leona was a stay-at-home mother of their two children, Robert and Sharon. After the children were grown, Leona worked for Schilz Jewelry Store.
She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and McCook Drove #3 BPO Does. She loved playing Bingo, spending time in her rose garden, and going bowling. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of her life.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 59 years, Robert Trout, Sr. on July 26, 2003; her parents, Henry and Caroline Hoelscher; one sister, Alvera Hoelscher; and three brothers, Roland, Richard and Leonard Hoelscher.
She is survived by her children, Robert Trout, Jr. and wife, Deborah of Grand Island and Sharon and husband, David Glenn of North Platte; five grandchildren, Michelle (Scott) Romans and their daughter, Taylor of Omaha, Darin (Jeri) Glenn and their children, Ethan, Devyn and Cyann of Columbus, Melissa (Russ) Urbanec and their children, Zach and Madison of Wayne, Robert (Meg) Trout and their son, James of Grand Island and Christina (Miles) Margritz of Kearney; numerous nieces and nephews, family, and a host of friends.
Memorials may be given in her name to The Nebraska Masonic Home, 1300 Avenue D. Plattsmouth, NE, 68048.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 4-7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook, NE. Friends may go online at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences to the family.
Funeral services will be Monday, September 30, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook, NE with Rev. Doug Griger officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
