Biography

Leota Ruth Cornwell, age 86, died June 17, 2006, at the Maranatha Village in Springfield, Missouri.

Leota was born September 13, 1919 at Coffeyville, Kansas, to Fred and Mary (Wilson) Wagner. She attended school in Coffeyville, Kansas.

She married Dale Kenneth Eden on September 20, 1936, at Rev. Victor Greisen's home in Coffeyville. Two children were born of this union, Donna and Howard. She was a dedicated pastor's wife and teacher. She worked in the kitchen at church camps from 1949 until the death of her husband in March of 1979. Together they pastured in Elkhart, KS, Edgemont, SD, Bayard, Columbus, Lexington, and McCook, NE.

She remained involved, starting & conducting "Prime-Timers" for several
years.

She married Harold Cornwell in 1987, when they moved to Thedford. She became the step-mother of Ken, Sharon, and Nyla. Here, once again, she formed a new "Prime-Timers" organization, remaining active through her entire stay in Thedford.

She experienced the loss of her second husband, Harold Cornwell, on October
30, 1995. She kept her residence in Thedford yet another nine years, until moving to
Maranatha Village, assisted-living in Springfield, MO on July 15, 2004.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dale Eden and Harold Cornwell; parents, Fred and Mary; daughter, Donna; brothers, George and Billy Wagner; sister, Betty Platte; half-brothers, Henry, Fred, Joe and Cecil Wagner and Oscar, Roy, and Elvin Baker; and half-sisters, Belle and Rose Wagner and Mary Baker.

Survivors include her son, Howard Eden of Dunseith, North Dakota; step-son, Ken Cornwell of Lincoln; step-daughters, Sharon Cornwell of Omaha and Nyla Blauvelt of Casper, Wyoming; brother, James Wagner of Wichita, Kansas; son-in-law, Ivan Kloefkorn of Dickinson, North Dakota; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild..

Memorials may be given in her name.

Funeral services were Saturday, June 24, 2006, at the Assembly of God Church in McCook with Rev. Ron Blauvelt officiating. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
