Lewis Snyder

Lewis Bartlett "Bart" Snyder of Oberlin, Kansas died Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska. He was 67 years old.

Bart was born on November 18, 1940 in Grangeville, Idaho to Alvin William and Frances Eileen (Tourelle) Leist. As a young child he and his brother were adopted by Vern Snyder. He graduated from Walla Walla High School, Walla Walla, Washington, in 1958 and attended one year of college.

Bart worked for a number of grocery stores until the mid 1960's. He returned to the family farm near Oberlin and was farming at the time of his death.

He was united in marriage to Mary "Annette" Lepper on January 13, 1984. He was a member of Prairie Chapel Methodist Church. He served on the Sherman Township Board and Cemetery Board. He also served two terms on the Danbury Coop Board.

He loved spending time with his cattle, his dogs and most of all with his grandchildren.

Preceeding him in death was his father, Alvin; and daughter, Kim Atkinson.

Survivors include his wife, Annette of Oberlin, KS; daughters, Teresa Meitl of Kansas City, MO, Yvonne Salvarria and fiancé©, Leo Johnson, of Queen Creek, AZ, Tami Ehrman of Blue Hill, NE and Linda and husband, Greg Parde, of McCook; sons, Mike Nicholson and wife, Melinda, of Moore, OK and Jeff Nicholson and wife, Marilea, of McCook; his mother, Eileen McClenny of Walla Walla; one brother, Dennis Snyder and wife, Carol, of Walla Walla; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; numerous family and a host of friends.

Memorials were to be given in his name.

Funeral services were Saturday, December 15, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Burial took place in the Sherman Cemetery, rural Oberlin, KS.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
