Lillian Marie Fielding passed away in the North Platte Care Center on August 12, 2023, at the age of 99.
Lillian was born in Holbrook, NE on January 18, 1924, to parents Walter and Bessie (Albrecht) Rice. She attended Holbrook country school until moving to Hayes County and attended country grade school. She graduated from Hayes Center High School with the class of 1941. She then achieved her teaching certificate from MCC. Lillian taught in one room schoolhouses at Palisade, District 2, and Eddy where she expanded the minds of many children.
She then moved to Denver and worked as an inspector at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. Lillian counted the number of fires the test incendiary bombs created when dropped. She married Court J. Fielding on December 30, 1945, following his return from fighting in World War II. Together they were blessed with and raised 6 children: Craig, Con, Ellen, Deborah, Stephen, and Stewart.
Lillian was very social and loved being with family and friends. People were always welcome in her home. Lillian was known for being a wonderful baker and loved to bring people together with her food. Throughout her life she was active in the community and in the following organizations: American Legion Auxiliary (77 yrs); Congregational Women's Fellowship; Hayes County Historical Society; Hayes Center Senior Center Volunteer; McCook Art Guild; VFW Auxiliary; Kitchen Klatter Band; Red Hatter Club; Garden Club; Clip and Cook Extension Club; and Card Club.
She is preceded in death by her husband Court; her parents; son, Craig Fielding; daughter in law Susan Fielding; brother, Charles Rice; sister in laws Ruby Rice and Ilah Rice.
Those left to celebrate her life are: daughter in law Ann Fielding of Cramerton, NC, (Marty, (Tiffany), Isa; Courtney (Doug); Michael, Taylor; Catherine, Charlie, and Jack); Con Fielding of McCook, NE (Chad (Sandy); Kenny (Shelby), Simon, Oliver, and Nora; Kristin, Nash and Cody; (Kayla, Tyson; Courtney, (Jeremy), Aurora, and Joseph; Brad, (Emile), Grayson and Noah). Stephen Fielding of Hayes Center, NE, Stewart (Reva) Fielding of Alliance, NE (Jeremy, Addison; Stephanie, (Cody), Nolan, Rylee, and Lincoln; Chelsea; Broderick); Ellen Fielding of Omaha, NE; Deborah (Larry) Walker of Kent, WA (Maggie, Bella, Evan; and Cy); Phillip Rice (Kay) plus numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
