Lillian Elizabeth Schaal died Friday (June 17, 2005) at Community Hospital in McCook. She was 102 years old.

Lillian was born on May 5, 1903, to John Leroy and Ruby Juliette (Stuart) Faidley at Junction City, Kansas. She was 102 years old.

On October 1, 1923, she married Kenneth Ross McCormick at Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 1937, they moved from Manhattan, Kansas to Colorado.

After Kenneth’s death Lillian married George Arthur Schaal on December 11, 1958 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in McCook.

She was a member of the Episcopal Church since 1925, a lifetime member of the Eastern Star (Queen Esther #5), Order of White Star, and a lifetime member of the Boulder Ladies Elks and other Boulder Homemakers Clubs.

She enjoyed her family, gardening, Christmas, traveling, square dancing, shopping and watching the Denver Bronco’s football games.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruby Faidley; her husbands Kenneth McCormick and George Schaal; a brother and sister in infancy; one son, Kenneth Jack McCormick; son-in-law, Albert H. Nothnagel; an infant grandson and infant great-grandson.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Nothnagel of McCook; four grandsons, Frank Nothnagel of San Diego, CA, John Nothnagel and wife, Betty of McCook, Dan Nothnagel of McCook, and Louis Nothnagel of Wayne; one granddaughter, Jolene and husband, Robert Schmidt, of McCook; 11 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to McCook Community Hospital, Hillcrest Nursing Home or St. Alban’s Episcopal Church.

Due to remodeling at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, public visitation will be Sunday and Monday 4:00- 8:00 p.m. at St. Alban’s Episcopal Chapel. Friends may go online at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences.

A private family service and burial will be Tuesday afternoon at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Sam Williams officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
