Lily Florence Wilcox, age 90, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
She was born on March 7, 1926 to Lige Higgins Mitchell and Fannie Lee Russell in Carlsbad, NM. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1945.
Lily was united in marriage to Gerald Wilcox on April 6, 1947 in Carlsbad, NM. Five children were blessed to this marriage.
Lily enjoyed fishing, camping, reading, gardening, and playing cards. She was very talented at sewing, embroidery, and plastic canvas art. Lily was also involved as a 4-H Leader as her children grew up.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her two sons, Dan (Debra) Wilcox of Conrad, MT and Charles (Coleen) Wilcox of Palisade, NE; three daughters, Nancy (John) Conover of St. Charles, MO, Kathy Castro of Centennial, CO and Sandra (Randy) McIntrye of Eureka, MT; three sister-in-laws, Doris Ruppert of McCook, NE, Marie (Al) Kuck of Smithfield, NE and Betty (Bill) Jussel of Grand Island, NE; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandson; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; sisters, Daisy Burleson, Sally Catherine Pitts and Retha Caddell; brothers, S.D. Mitchell, William Mitchell, Walter Mitchell, Louis Mitchell, Edward Mitchell and Claudie Mitchell.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with the family greeting guests from 5-7:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Alisa Parde officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
