Linda K. Lafferty

Linda K. (McConnell) Lafferty died Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at her home in McCook. She was 59.

She was born on August 9, 1949 to Elvin "Bud" McConnell and Frances (Ridpath) McConnell in Oberlin, KS. She graduated from Beaver Valley High School in 1967. She also graduated from McCook Junior College and Kearney State College.

On May 18, 1973 she married Donald Lafferty in Lebanon. To this union two children were born, Scott and Amanda. They lived their lives in McCook. She worked at Source Gas for 35 years.

She was an active member of the Memorial United Methodist Church and many special events at the church and a member of the Lions Club and various organizations around McCook. She was also one of Nabisco's One Hundred Exceptional Women in 2008 for volunteer work. She was also awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow for dedicated humanitarian services for the Lions Club International.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Larry McConnell and mother-in-law Bonnie June Lafferty.

Survivors include her husband, Don; son, Scott and fiancé© Kendra Wallace; daughter, Amanda; father-in-law, Cecil Lafferty and special friend, Virginia Myers all of McCook; two sisters, Gloria Demke and Cecil of South Sioux City, NE, Sharon Vise and John of Boise, ID; four sisters-in-law, Mi He Cha McConnell of Arapahoe, Betty Florea and husband, Ralph of Hopkins, MO, Susan Campbell and husband, Dennis of Lodi, CA. and Sally Rowe and special friend Donn Topliff of Beloit, KS; two brothers-in-law, Lyle Lafferty and wife, LaVonna of Scranton, KS, John Lafferty and special friend Lynnette of Kearney; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and other relatives and numerous friends.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 30, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial United Church with Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial will be in Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.

Visitation will be today until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
