Lloyd Joseph Frederick died Friday, June 12, 2009 at his home in Trenton. He was 80 years old.
Lloyd was born December 29, 1928 on a farm near Humboldt, Kansas to Raymond and Clara (Westerman) Frederick. He attended rural country school. He entered the US Air Force and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged and reenlisted into the Army and was again honorably discharged on January 28, 1954.
On July 5, 1952, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise White in Augusta, Kansas. To this union nine children were born. They made their home in several locations including Atwood, Kansas and later moving to Trenton in 1964. He briefly worked for Boeing Aviation. He worked for 49 years in the oil fields south of Trenton beginning as a pumper with the Skelly and Getty oil companies, and later as a foreman for Texaco and continuing on a part time basis as a contracted oil field pumper for Murfin oil company until April of 2009.
Lloyd was a member of the St. James Catholic Church and Men's Club. He was also a member of the Trenton American Legion Stellges-Baker Post #337 and Veterans of Foreign War Massacre Canyon Post. He loved fishing, hunting, watching the Nebraska Huskers, and spending time with his family.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Raymond and Clara Frederick; and three sisters, Geraldine Frederick, Ruth Poffenbarger and Rose Ann Frederick.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 57 years, Mary Frederick of Trenton; seven sons, Roger and wife, Kaye, of Richmond, MO, Bruce and wife, Connie, of Fort Wayne, IN, Steve and wife, Ann, of Omaha, Don and wife, Kate, of Somerville, MA, James and friend, Jayna Willison, of Broken Arrow, OK, Rodney and wife, Stephanie, of Omaha and Jason and wife, Amy, of Trenton; two daughters, Anne Phillips of San Diego, CA and Annette and husband, Justin Lucas, of Bellevue; four brothers, Clarence and wife, Doris, of Broken Arrow, OK, Robert and wife, Valerie, of Humboldt, Tom and wife, Janet, of Chanute, KS and Ralph and wife, JoAnn, of Goodman, MO; and three sisters, Marcella Phelan of Humboldt, Rita and husband, Clyde Roush, of Chanute, KS and Velma Nordhus of Centralia, KS; 21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Lloyd's name to St. James Catholic Church or the McCook Hospice.
Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Friends may send condolences to www.carpenterbreland.com
Rosary will be Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 7:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 18, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at St. James with Father Val Bartek officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Trenton Cemetery with a veteran's Honor Guard.
