Lloyd Charles Wesch, age 83, died Sunday, October 12, 2008 peacefully at his home in McCook.
He was born July 22, 1925 to Charles August and Nellie Pearl (Crocker) Wesch. He was raised on a farm south of McCook.
He hired on the Burlington Northern Railroad as a brakeman in 1949 and was promoted to a conductor in July of 1953. He was a conductor on Amtrak to Lincoln for the last 12 years before he retired in September of 1987.
On June 9, 1966, he married Carmen K. Scott in Denver, Colorado.
He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the McCook Elks and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Nellie Wesch; twin brother, Floyd Wesch; and sister, Marilyn Goltl.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen of McCook; one son, Patrick and wife, Sandra of McCook; one daughter, Joely and husband, Alex Lewis of Lincoln; one sister, Marie Elsie O’Dea of Kearney; brother-in-law Ralph Goltl of McCook; sister-in-law Joanne Wesch of Lake George, Colo; three grandchildren, Scott Wesch, Marie Sauvage and husband, Daniel and Taylor Wesch; one great-grandchild, Landen Sauvage; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Memorials were to be given in his name.
Funeral services were Friday, October 17, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Pastor John Strecker-Baseler officiating. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
