Lois Jean Hamilton, age 81, passed away Monday, February 15, 2016 at Community Hospital of McCook.
Lois was born November 1, 1934 to Alfred and Effie Marie (Blake) Cheney in Indianola, Nebraska.
On November 12, 1950 she married James L. Hamilton in Oberlin, KS. To this union four children were born.
Lois enjoyed square dancing and was a member of Levi’s & Laces Club. She loved spending time with her family.
She worked at Walmart as a greeter for 17 years retiring in 2011.
Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Svoboda and husband, Darrell of McCook, Deb Hudgens and husband, Jay of Omaha; sons, James Hamilton Jr. and wife, Deb of McCook, Rick Hamilton and wife, Sue of Casper, WY; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; four brothers, Mearled, Bernard, Don and Bob Cheney; one sister, Elda Walker; grandson, Derek Hamilton; granddaughter, Lindsey Svoboda; and two beloved dogs, Mugs and Taz.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Bruce Lester officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in her name.
