Lola I. Ruppert, age 75, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Community Hospital in McCook . On February 25th 1933, she was born on the family farm south of Curtis, to James “Jim” and Leola “Ruth” (Kistler) Fischer. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in 1951.
On September 10, 1951 Lola married John Ruppert in McCook. They started their life together stationed at Fort Hood, Texas where John was in the Army. In 1953, after he was discharged from the Army they moved to the farm northwest of McCook until moving into McCook in 1981. Lola was John’s “right-hand man” in their farming operation along with raising hogs and chickens. She was a caregiver to many, young and old.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Leroy in infancy and Richard “Dick” Fischer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jay and Doris Ruppert; and brothers-in-law, Dale and Homer Ruppert and Mack Nutt.
Survivors include: her husband John of McCook; two sons, Ronald and wife Kathy Ruppert of McCook and Douglas of Curtis; four grandchildren, Ryan Ruppert and wife Francie of Denver, Colorado, Willis Ruppert and wife Libby of McCook, Brent of Curtis and special friend, Erin Meyers of Indianola, Bambi Meyers and husband Jeremy of Indianola; two great-granddaughters, Natasha and Alexis Ruppert; brothers James Fischer and wife Lois of Casper Wyoming, Clyde Fischer and wife Cathy of Cambridge, Dave Fischer and wife Delma of Maywood; sisters, Lucille Nutt of Curtis and Barb Easton and husband Bob of Laramie, Wyoming; sister-in-law, Elane Fischer of Curtis; one brother-in-law, Bob Ruppert and wife Jean of McCook; five sisters-in-law, Donna Ruppert, Helen Magee and husband Ferris, Mary (Trosper) Zimbelman and Naomi Ruppert all of McCook and Ann Rowley of Wauneta and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Chapel in McCook with Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials were being encouraged to the Community Hospital Foundation in her name.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
