Biography

Lorene Agnes Malleck died Thursday, February 17, 2005 at Community Hospital in McCook. She was 94 years old.

Lorene was born on October 21, 1910, at Indianola to John Walter and Lena (Reiners) Weskamp. She attended rural school in Red Willow County.

On January 17, 1929, she married Charles LeRoy Malleck at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook. They were blessed with six sons. They made their home on a farm near Indianola. A few years later they moved to a farm near Imperial and later moved back to the McCook community. Lorene moved to McCook in 1983. She was living at Hillcrest Nursing Home at the time of her death.

Lorene was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was also a member of the Better Aims Extension Club and a card club. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Charles Malleck on February 10, 1972; son, Darrel Malleck on November 7, 2002; three brothers, Griff, Ernest, and Archibald Weskamp; sister, Bernadine Switzer; grandson, Christopher Malleck and twin great-grandchildren, Casey and Tracey Malleck.

Survivors include her sons, Kenneth Malleck and wife, Nita, of McCook, Gene Malleck and wife, Marjorie, of McCook, Robert Malleck and wife, Marilyn, of McCook, Archie Malleck and wife, In Suk, of Killeen, TX, and Loyce Malleck and wife, Marilyn, of Denver, CO; daughter-in-law, Lois Malleck of Amarillo, TX; one brother, John Weskamp and wife, Mildred, of McCook; 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials were to be given in her name.

Rosary took place Friday, February 18, 2005, 6:15 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial was on Saturday, February 19, 2005, 2:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
