Mabel E. Dunham of Garden City, Kansas has gone to be with her Savior on this day, January 21, 2012.
Mabel was born June 12, 1920 to parents Theodore and Jessie (Cordwell) Wickizer. The family lived north of Max, KS where she attended school.
Mabel married Clyde R. Dunham in Atwood, KS. To this union three children were born; Marilyn, Lyle and Joe. The family made their home in Wauneta, NE where Mabel and Clyde owned and operated a local café. Mabel later remarried Henry Peppler.
Mabel lived in McCook, NE for 57 years before selling her home and moving to Garden City in 2006 to be close to her daughter, Marilyn McIver. She lived in the Garden City Retirement Village.
Mabel enjoyed quilting for her children and grandchildren as well as cooking and baking for her friends and family when they came to visit. She also enjoyed playing her organ and took great pride in her flowers and yard. Mabel attended the Methodist church for over 50 years, worked in several cafes and sold Avon for 26 years. She was a wonderful mother and friend.
Mabel was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, sisters, two sons, and two grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Marilyn McIver, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, four step-great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Beulah Dehart and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved so much.
Mabel had four wonderful girls who took care of her around the clock the last three months: her grand-daughters Jeanette McPherson and Clara Walker as well as friends Rosa Ann Kapp and Denise Zapata. Each of these ladies loved her dearly and worked hard to keep her safe and happy in her last days.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 1 to 8 PM at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Alisa Parde officiating.
Burial will follow the funeral service in the Riverview Cemetery in McCook.
