Marcella Kehler

April 16, 1933 — January 2, 2004

Biography

Marcella Ann (Palic) Kehler passed away at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, following complications from a stroke.

We, her children, are grateful for the time we have had with her. We are especially thankful for the past couple of months. Marcella has shown her incredible strength as a loving woman through her commitment to always focus on the needs of others rather than her own. She employed her skills as a caregiver in many aspects. She volunteered for 20 plus years at the Red Cross Blood Mobile in McCook where she donated numerous gallons of blood. She worked at Hillcrest for the last ten years and was known at both work and home for her baked goods. Stories of a dozen or so kids around the dining room table were common when cinnamon roll time came around. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Marcella was born in Hayes County on April 16, 1933; she was the first of seven children. After graduating from high school in Hayes Center, she taught rural school south of Culbertson. She married William (Bill) Kehler on Nov. 26, 1953, in McCook and settled in Culbertson. Together they had eight children.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Fern Palic, her husband William "Bill", her son Michael "Frog", and two granddaughters Chelsea and Charlye Jo.

Marcella leaves behind six brothers and sisters: Paul Palic, Wilma Palic, Jim Palic, Ingrid Battershell, Fanella Flaherty, and Craig Palic. Also included are her seven remaining children Theresa of Cozad, Ed and wife, Sandra of McCook, Leland and wife, Marla of Loveland, Fred and wife, Sheila of Culbertson, Ginger and husband, Andy Cash of Indianola, Shelly and husband, Harold Larimore of Indianola, and Tom and wife, Liz of Culbertson; Char Kehler, wife of the late Michael Kehler. Marcella is the proud grandparent of Chad (and wife Amy), Amanda, Jessica, Cory, Elizabeth, Jacob, Shasta, Rachel, Maggie, Sederick; step-grandchild, Chaniel and husband, Eric Flora of Colorado, Andrew and Carl Cash of Tennessee; and one great-grandchild, Emma; step-great-grandchildren, Tony, Jesse, Chesney, Laney Jo, McCartney Flora of Colorado and Zack Larimore.

Rosary took place at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home on Monday at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook. Burial took place in the Culberston Cemetery.

Memorials were to be given in Marcella's name.
God bless you Mom for the time we have had with you. You are at peace now and you will always be in our hearts.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
