Biography

Margaret Evelyn Quick died Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
She was 94.

She was born October 7, 1914 at Grant to the late Frank N. and Jennie (Hoffman)Whipps. She was the fifth of their six children.

At an early age she was baptized and became a member of the Congregational church of Grant later moving her membership to Trenton.

She attended schools of Grant and graduated from Perkins County High School in 1933. After graduation she taught school several years in Perkins County.

On November 2, 1935 she was married to Forrest Quick in Apron, CO. To this union two children were born, a daughter, Colleen Kay Schoolcraft of Lancaster, SC and a son, Gary Lee Quick of Lakewood, CO. In November they would have celebrated 74 years together.

She moved to Trenton with her husband December of 1937, where they were in business until November 1997.

Margaret taught Sunday School for 18 years in Nebraska and Illinois. She was a Cub Scout Dean Mother, a 4-H Leader and was active in her church and Women's Fellowship. She was a member of Eastern Star, a past Worthy Matron and had received her 50 year pin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Forrest of McCook; daughter, Colleen Schoolcraft and husband Robert; son, Gary Quick and wife, Sharon; grandchildren, Lisa, Eric, Jody, Chad, Kyle, Tisha, Doug, Brian, Brad and Chad; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Memorials were to be given in her name to the American Cancer Society.

Memorial services were Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Pastor Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Inurnment took place Friday in the Grant Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. MDT.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
