Margaret E. (Decker) Roedel, 96 died, Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Sterling, Colorado.
She was born June 29, 1910 in Giltner, Nebraska to Isaac Newton and Nellie (Whitacre) Skinner. She grew up in Hamilton County, and graduated from Phillips High School in 1928. She was a graduate of Kearney State Teachers College.
In 1934 she married James Ennis Decker and moved to Wauneta. In 1945 they moved to McCook. James died in 1952. In 1963 she married Enoch Roedel. He died in 1991. In 2005 she moved to Sterling, CO to be closer to family.
Margaret taught second grade at West Ward for 21 years. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, and a past member of American Association of University Women and Retired Teachers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, ten brothers, two sisters and a step-son.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Turley and husband, John of Littleton, Colo., Peg Bell and husband, Lowell of Sterling, Colo; one son, James Decker and wife, JoAnn of Benkelman; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; She is also survived by step children Dean Roedel and wife, Joanne of Greeley, Colo, Lois Lepper of McCook, Mary VanderMolen of Aurora, Colo, Carol Ruland and husband, Bob of Greeley, Colo; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Randy Wahl officiating. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in her name to Peace Lutheran Church and KNGN Radio.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of arrangements.
