Margaret Elizabeth Stevens, 87, died at Highland Park Retirement Community in McCook on Wednesday, December 31, 2008.
January 16, 1921, Margaret was born on the family farm northwest of Indianola to William and Anna (Urling) Ryan. She graduated from Havanna High School in 1940 and lived in this area all of her life.
In January of 1942, Margaret married Thomas Preston Stevens at Trenton. She was a nurse's aide for 20 years. She enjoyed reading, watching TV and working with genealogy.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Thomas; a son, Merle in 2005; a brother, George and wife Klonnie Ryan; a sister, Madie and husband Earl Nichols; a brother-in-law, Arthur L. Lashley, Sr. and a grandson, Rickie Bose.
Survivors include her son, Van and wife Sandy Stevens of McCook, a sister, Faye Lashley of Curtis; and daughter-in-law Karen Stevens of Hastings; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials were to be given in her name.
Funeral services were Saturday, January 3rd at 10 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial took place in the Indianola Cemetery.
