Maria"Lucille" Garcia
February 8, 1919 — June 16, 2005
Maria (Lucille) Garcia died Thursday, June 16, 2005 at Community Hospital in McCook. She was 86.
On February 8, 1919 she was born in Fort Madison, Iowa to Luis and Ramana (Martinez) Rodriguez. She attended school in McCook and lived most of her life in McCook.
She married Benito Garcia, Sr. on July 27, 1937 in McCook. To this union three sons and a daughter were born.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook. She loved her family, gardening, music and dancing, especially Mexican Fiesta's. She and Benito were the Heritage Days Honor Family in 1981.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Francis Ortiz and Jean Ortiz, and two grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Benito of McCook; three sons, Robert Garcia of Woodriver, Benito Garcia, Jr. and wife Marleen and Joe Garcia and wife Gloria, all of McCook; a daughter, Frances Paz and husband Sam of McCook; 22 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rosa Castle of Omaha.
Memorials may be given to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
