Marilyn Gladys Rucker of Hayes Center died Thursday, December 28, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. She was 78 years old.

Marilyn was born on August 13, 1928 in Hayes County to David and Gladys (Repass) Alexander. She graduated from Hayes Center High School and attended Kearney College. She taught elementary school for a short time.

On June 4, 1955, she married Stanley Dween Rucker in North Platte. Their entire married life was spent in Hayes Center. Together, they raised one son, Alan Rucker

Marilyn was a member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ. She participated in Women’s Fellowship within that church. She was also a member of the notorious Kitchen Klatter Band! Marilyn loved to play cards, play the piano and organ, and was an absolute whiz at correctly guessing the “Guess Who” features in the weekly Times-Republican newspaper.

Preceding her in death were her parents, David and Gladys Alexander; one son, Michael Steven; two sisters, Betty Fritzler and Helen Enyeart and one brother, James Alexander.

Survivors include her husband, Stanley Rucker of Hayes Center; son, Alan Rucker of Hayes Center; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given to the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Hayes Center.

Services will be Tuesday, 1:30 p.m. at Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Hayes Center with the Rev. Fay Ann Blaylock officiating.

Visitation was Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook and from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church in Hayes Center on Tuesday.
