Marjorie Richardson

Marjorie Delores (Faubion) Richardson died Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was 87.

She was born on February 14, 1921 to Leonard and Hazel (Thompson) Faubion. She grew up in Cambridge, NE where her father barbered. Two other siblings joined the family; Elizabeth (Betty) and Leonard (Bunny). As a very young girl, Marge styled hair for several Cambridge women for the price of ten cents per head. She also learned to sew and became an established seamstress which proved profitable for herself and her family in the years to come.

On March 13, 1938 she married Lee Richardson in Oberlin, KS. To this union were born three children: Terry, Gloria and Lisa. Both Marge and Lee were employed at Boeing in Wichita, KS shortly after their marriage. They later moved to Indianola, NE where he opened Lee's Body Shop. Marge was the bookkeeper, secretary and right hand person at the body shop. She also was employed at various times at: McCook Army Air Base, Indianola News, Ray Kurtz Insurance Agency in Indianola and finally Marge worked at the McCook hospital as a nurses assistant.

Marge was active with the Indianola Methodist Church and served as a Brownie Scout leader, Federated Women’s Club, U-Go-I-Go Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She took great pride in her flowers, garden and love of neighbors. She was always willing to help with her time and her wonderful homemade meals. She was known for her delicious rolls. She also loved playing golf, and all kinds of music, especially dancing and playing the drums for dance bands. She was fastidious in her appearance and fashion.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husband.

She is survived by her three children, Terry and wife Lynda of Aberdeen, SD; Gloria and husband Roger Tinkham of McCook, NE and Lisa and husband Rick Wilcox of McCook, NE; and eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her special longtime friend Al Hallowell and hometown friend and care giver Peggy Schmidt. We will all miss you and we each love you.

Great grandchildren: Taylor, Trevor, Teryn Richardson; Kaitlin, Brianne, Morgan Richardson; Courtney, Bryce, Brady Coleman, Chloe Yates

Memorials were to be given in her name.

Funeral services were Tuesday, February 26, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at the Indianola United Methodist Church with Pastor David Rowe and Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial took place be in the Indianola Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
