Mark Allan Hinz, 35, died Saturday (August 20, 2005) southeast of McCook as a result of a car accident.
On January 29, 1970 he was born in McCook to Kenneth D. and Gayle Lee (Helberg) Hinz. He attended Republican Valley and McCook Public Schools.
Mark had been an electrician for ten years. He also helped with the mechanics at the McCook Speedway and was an avid hunter.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Delores Helberg, Emil and Charlotte Hinz; and an aunt, Dorothy Kalthoff.
Survivors include: two sons, Drew Matson and Drake Matson and a daughter Shaedee Matson all of Wray, CO; his father, Kenneth Hinz of McCook; his mother and step- father, Gayle and Jim Bird of Almena, KS; a brother Merlin Hinz and wife Deonne of Bartley; Grandfather, Lloyd Helberg and great-grandmother, Florence Mercer both of Cozad; Aunts and Uncles, Robert Hinz, Donald Hinz and Alvin Hinz, all of McCook, Douglas Helbert of Omaha, Eldon Helberg of Oberlin, Kent Helberg of Blackwell, OK., Jan Weimers and Jay Helberg of McCook and Trudy Burkholder of Bartley.
Memorials were accepted in his name.
Funeral services were Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church - Ash Creek with Pastor Mark Stahla officiating. Burial took place in St. John Cemetery - Ash Creek with Scott Mustion officiating.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
