Martin Laverne Fritz died Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at his rural home near Indianola. He was 79 years old.

Martin was born on August 13, 1931, at home near Indianola to John R. and Lydia Marie (Troester) Fritz. He graduated from Bartley High School in 1950. From there he worked on the family farm.

On January 12, 1964, he was united in marriage to Sundae M. Mues at Ash Creek. They were blessed with four children, two sons, Todd and Dennis and two daughters, Marla and Tracy. Farming was his life as well as ranching and taking care of his cows. He enjoyed working on his metal lathe, where he was always fixing something for someone and loving every minute of it.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Ash Creek, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of Walter League. He also served on the Coop Board for many years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Lydia Fritz; son, Dennis Fritz; and sister, Ilene Kisker.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sundae Fritz of Indianola; son, Todd Fritz and wife, Donna, of North Platte and their children, Paula, Ben and Cory; two daughters, Marla and husband, Shane Messersmith of McCook and their children, Collin, Kylie and Karsen and Tracy and husband, Kendall Moon, of Sutherland and their children Nathan and Jessica; one brother, Delbert Fritz and wife, Orian, of Bartley; one sister, Erma and husband, Harvey Hinz, of McCook; numerous nephews, nieces and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation will be Thursday until 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.carpenterbreland.com

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 18, 2010, 10:00 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church, Ash Creek, with Pastor Kevin Schnakenberg officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Bartley.
