Marvin Dale Blake

November 9, 1937 — October 13, 2012

Marvin Dale Blake passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012 at El Dorado Manor Nursing Home in Trenton. He was 74 years old.

Marvin was born on November 9, 1937 at Ogallala, Nebraska to parents, Loyd Otto and Daisy Lila (Younger) Blake. He graduated from McCook High School in 1956 where he played basketball.

After graduation, Marvin started working for the Bureau of Reclamation. His career with them would take him to Montrose, CO, Boise, ID, Spokane, WA, and Yuma, AZ. After his retirement in 1992 he moved back to Boise where he worked for a mailing company until his health started failing. He returned to the McCook community in 2005.

Marvin's passion was working with Quarter horses especially in cattle cutting competitions. He also loved golfing and teasing his many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Loyd and Daisy Blake; sisters, Roberta Piper and Darlene Wagner; and brother, Dallas Blake.

Survivors include his sister, Jean Evans of McCook; sister-in-law, LaVerne Blake of Boise, ID; nieces and nephews, Beverly (John) Wilcox of Columbia, MO, Larry (Marilyn) Hamler of McPherson, KS, Dennis (Donna) Wagner, of Windsor, CO, Connie (Alan) Huntley, of Minden, Rodney (Tanya) Blake of Boise, Barb (Rick) Cafferty, of Meridian, ID, Gary Blake of Boise, Brenda (Fernando) Veloz of Meridian, Linda (Steve) Cole of Curtis, Steve (Christi) Evans of McCook and Pam Miner of Henderson, NV; numerous great nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 16, 2012, from 1-8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. Friends may go online at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 17, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Rev. Lance Clay officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
