Mary Estaline Lehl, age 93, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Community Hospital.
She was born August 3, 1918 at Woodruff, KS to Arthur Stanley and Julia Myrtle (Miller) Phelps. She attended school in Orleans and graduated from Orleans High with the Class of 1935. She continued her education with a nursing certificate from Iowa City, IA.
On August 21, 1939 she married Donald Lehl from McCook, Nebraska in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and to this union two daughters and one son were born. Donna Lehl Baum, Mary Jane Lehl Lentz and Charles Bruce Lehl. The family made their home in McCook.
Mary was a member of St. Albans Episcopal Church. She was an Alter Guild member for over twenty years, which she enjoyed.
She knitted, crocheted, and played bridge. She enjoyed her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband Don, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Art, Edward and Charles; and three sisters, Ruth, Grace and Elsie.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Baum of Lubbock, TX, Mary Jane Lentz and husband Linford of Lufkin, TX; son, Charles Lehl of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Marjorie Phelps; three grandchildren, Georgia Redding, Chad Baum, Darcy Marshall; three great-grandchildren, Bradi, Ty and Bode Marshall; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be given in her name.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 5, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at St. Albans Episcopal Church with Rev. Mary Hendricks officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from 1:00 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
