Mary C. Sanders Jaques Walker, 76, died Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
Mary was born on March 22, 1928, on a farm near Denton, Texas to John Clay and Mamie Ellen (Karre) Beeler. She attended rural Mayhill Elementary School and graduated from North Texas State High School in 1944.
On March 21, 1945 she married Alfred Henry Sanders. To this union three children were born. He died in November of 1961, leaving Mary with three young children. She later married Steven Jaques in McCook. She became a step-mother to two more sons. Mary was a homemaker and active Boy Scout Leader. She also helped her husband by driving a semi for their livestock trucking service. After they closed their trucking business, Mary worked for Stickney's as a clerk for several years. For the past 18 years she was a sales associate for Wal-Mart until her health forced her to retire.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her two husbands, Alfred and Steven; and one sister, Christine.
Survivors include her children, Janice and husband, Jim McGinness, of Plymouth, Betty and husband, Jim Barker, of Gering and Michael Sanders and wife, Marla, of McCook; step-sons, Steve Jaques and wife, Chris and Brad Jaques all of Grant; three sisters, Betty Lou Gaddy of Denton, TX, Martha Oulette of Sanger, TX and Ruth and husband, James Bryan, of Lewisville, TX; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 11th, 10:00 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Chapel with Pastor John Strecker-Baseler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials are being accepted in her name.
