Maxine Logan

May 2, 1920 — September 3, 2016

Maxine Logan of Trenton, NE passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016 at El Dorado Manor in Trenton.  She was 96 years old.

Maxine was born May 2, 1920 to parents David E. and Cuma (Harris) Butcher in Wewoka, Oklahoma.  She was one of four siblings.

Maxine married her first husband, Carl Swanson, in Culber City, California in 1937. The couple was blessed with two children, David and JoAnn.  Carl passed away in 1957.

Maxine married husband Howard Logan in 1980.  The couple lived in Delta, Colorado where Maxine was employed by the National Forrest Service.  It was also during this time that Maxine worked as a caregiver for the elderly and those with long term illnesses.  Howard also preceded Maxine in death.

Maxine loved to volunteer.  She assisted with the Grief Share program at her church, McCook Church of Christ, and also volunteered as a Pink Lady for Community Hospital and Hospice.

Whether camping with friends and family, or working in her garden and flower beds Maxine found solitude in the outdoors.  She was an avid hunter, harvesting her last deer at the age of 92.

Maxine was very independent up until the last couple of months. She deeply loved her family. Hosting frequent gatherings in her home brought her much joy.  Attending her children’s activities, as well as her grandson J.J.’s cross country meets, was something she always looked forward to.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Carl Swanson and Howard Logan; her son, David Swanson; her brother, Butch; and her two sisters, Geraldine and Ailene.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Austin; her two grandchildren, Patty Austin and Harry Myers; and her great grandson, J.J. Myers all of McCook, NE.

Memorials may be given in her name to McCook Church of Christ, 710 East 7th st, McCook, NE 69001.
