Maxine Violet Sigwing, age 95, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.
She was born in McCook, Nebraska June 10, 1918 to Eric D, and Arvilla G (Jeffers) Dugger. She was united in marriage to William (Bill) Sigwing on March 1, 1934 in Oberlin, Kansas. They spent sixty years together working hard, fishing, and traveling to see family before Bill preceded her in death in 1994.
Maxine was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, the Methodist Women's Club, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Eagles.
She was always a very busy woman through her jobs, memberships, and raising six sons; Billie of Sherman Oaks, California; John and wife Connie of Litchfield, California; Gary and wife Bette of Ogallala, Nebraska; Larry and wife Leona of Kansas City, Kansas; Danny of Ogallala, Nebraska; and Jerry and wife Joann of Rochester, Minnesota. Bill and Maxine were also blessed with 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
With seemingly little effort and great love she was always ready to feed anyone and everyone who came through her door. It didn't matter if there were just two or a home bursting with the busy families of her sons, brothers and sisters, or friends. Her kitchen and living room embraced all no matter how great the numbers, Love of family, laughter and wonderfully detailed stories and conversations drew all close to her. Maxine was graced with a beautiful sense of family that has been passed on to even her youngest great-great grandchildren. She knew how to keep all who loved her feeling safe and nurtured even when she was keeping them "in line".
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather Henry Migchelbrink, husband William Sigwing; five brothers: Jim, Jack, Murray, Don, and Erick; four sisters: Dorothy, Bonnie, Phyllis, and Geraldine; and two grandchildren: Danny and Dennis.
