Myrtle Annetta Ross

April 5, 1917 — February 21, 2014

Myrtle Annetta Ross, age 96, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 at Good Samaritan Center in Oberlin, KS.

Myrtle was born in Lake Park, Iowa on April 5, 1917 to Joseph and Carrie (Brandt) Ross. Her parents then moved to Mason City, IA where her Dad worked for the railroad.

During her lifetime in Iowa, Myrtle loved sewing and shopping. She did take care of children for a few years in some family homes and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She had a great love for trains, making many train trips to MN in her younger days to visit relatives. In the winter time she would be met by a horse and sleigh with a buffalo robe and bricks to keep her feet warm.

Since 1993 Myrtle has resided in Oberlin and entered the Good Samaritan Center in April 2008.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lowell and wife, Carroll; and a sister, Althea Horn and husband, Alvin.

Myrtle is survived by her nephews, Stephen Horn and wife, Marilyn of Oberlin and Wayne Horn and wife, Linda of Denver, CO; niece, Evelyn Hill and husband, Bob of Kempner, TX; and many great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the Oberlin Church of Christ with Pastor Bill Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.
