Norma Ellen (Troxel) Bodeman was born December 23, 1923 to Charles Orley & Luella May(Bush) Troxel at their farm home three miles south of Wauneta. Norma departed this life March 16, 2005 at Imperial. She was a loving sister to Neoma Evelyn, Charles Robert and Nola Elaine. She and Neoma attended Sunny Side School three and one half miles south of Wauneta until the eighth grade and both attended Wauneta High School graduating in 1941. She then attended business college at Hastings. Norma was baptized into her Lord's family at an early age.
Norma married Gerold Alfred Bodeman at Oberlin, KS on August 7, 1943. They made their home at farms north of Wauneta and Palisade before moving East of Palisade. Norma was a bookkeeper for Oger's filling station in McCook, Hayes Center ASCS and receptionist for Dr. Ivan Lamb. Norma helped Gerold on the farm until they retired. Upon retirement they moved to their home in Palisade where she lived until her recent illness. They celebrated sixty one years of marriage August 7, 2004. Their home has always been open to relatives and friends.
She was a member of the Jolly Jane's Club and the Beverly Aid until the last few years. She and Gerold loved to travel and spend time in their Arizona home during the winter months. She was devoted to her parents in their ailing years. Norma loved to embroidery and did much hand work while visiting them in the nursing home in Wauneta. She loved to bake and decorate cakes which graced many weddings and anniversaries of families and friends.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; brother Charles Robert Troxel; sister Neoma Evelyn Miller; a sister-in-law Laverda Newberry and brother-in-laws Harley, Leland and Verle Bodeman.
She leaves to morn her passing, husband Gerold of Palisade; sister Nola and husband Harry Straub of Wauneta and brother-in-law Donald Miller of Denver; sister-in-law Fern and husband George Good of El Paso, TX ; brother-in-law Arlie and wife Pauline Bodeman of Portland, WA; uncle Talbert Bush of Greeley, CO; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorials may be given in her name.
Funeral services were Monday, March 21 at 2:00 P.M. (MST) at the Wauneta Church of Christ with Randy Hayes and Rick Eldred officiating. Burial took place in Riverside Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
