Norma J. Helm, age 86, of Cambridge, NE passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Tri Valley Health System in Cambridge.
Norma was born May 16, 1930 in Indianola, NE to parents Rozella and Clarence E. (Hall) Potts. Norma lived her entire life in Red Willow County. Norma graduated from Indianola High School in 1948.
On June 2, 1951, Norma married Roger W. Helm in Trenton, NE. The couple was blessed with three children. Over the years, Norma enjoyed teaching elementary school. It was also during this time that she continued her education at Kearney State College, receiving her Master’s Degree in 1980. The family made their home on a farm south of Red Willow until retiring to Indianola, NE in July 1989.
Norma was a retired school teacher, Past Worthy Matron of Roberta Chapter 302, Order of the Eastern Star, Member of NSEA-R and co-facilitator of the Southwest NE Alzheimer’s Support Group in McCook, NE.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger Helm; two brothers, Dale J. Potts and James E. “Roy” Potts; and granddaughter, Christina Helm.
Those left to mourn her passing include her three children, Mark W. (Vicki) Helm of Indianola, LeAnna L. (Walt) Schwab of McCook and Todd W. Helm of Indianola; seven grandchildren, Benjamin Helm, James (Ginnie) Dempewolf, Daniel (Jolene) Dempewolf and Andrew (Jenna) Dempewolf, and Karen, Nicole and Keith Helm; six great grandchildren, Jackson, Jonathon, Justin, Jayce, Kenny and Gentry; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
