Norma Nadine (Davidson) Zink died on Friday, April 20, 2007, at Willow Ridge Retirement Community, McCook, Nebraska. She was 85 years old.

She was born June 20, 1921, in Gove County, Kansas, the daughter of Guy Rolland and Nellie (Smith) Davidson. She attended grade school at Dalton Valley and Shields Kansas and was a Dighton High School graduate.

She married Kenneth Orice Zink on November 24, 1941 at her parent’s home in Dighton, Kansas. To this union were born four children: Joyce Elaine, Larry Kent, Joan Faye, and Barry.

Norma and Kenneth lived in Lane and Gove County, Kansas until Kenneth went to the military service and she moved back to Dighton, Kansas and then Denver, Colorado. Following Kenneth’s discharge from the service, they returned to Lane County. In 1949, she and her family moved to Danbury, Nebraska. She was a homemaker and raised her family in Danbury. She was active in her community, a leader in 4-H; an active member of the Danbury Presbyterian Church; Danbury Women’s Association, Danbury American Legion Auxiliary; Beaver Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars; and Eastern Star at McCook.

In November 1999, Norma moved to the Willow Ridge Retirement Community, McCook, Nebraska. She was an active member of that community, including the Red Hat Society, and she resided there until her death.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth O. Zink, one son Barry Zink, and three sisters.

Survivors include one son, Larry Zink and wife Laurel Erickson of Lincoln; two daughters Joyce Nicholson and husband Melvin of Lebanon; and Joan Dube of Sparks, Nevada. Six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two brothers: Delmar and Doyle Davidson, and one sister, Wilodyne Dooley.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 23, 2007, 1:30 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial was in the Danbury-Marion Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to McCook Community Hospital Foundation – Hospice or American Cancer Society.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
