Norman “Rod” Rodney Ladd of Oberlin, died in McCook Sunday (September 3, 2006). He was 59 years old.
He was born July 14, 1947 in Omaha to Norman Russell and Ethel Lois (Leonard) Ladd. He grew up in Omaha and attended Benson High School. He later received his GED. He was a truck driver, mechanic and welder.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966-1970 in Vietnam. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren, horses, guns, fishing, reading the Bible and history books.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include: his children, Matthew and wife Crystal Ladd of McCook, Kelly Ladd of Valley and Carrie Ladd of Logan, IA; and three grandchildren; his mother Lois Ladd of Waterloo; five brothers, Wayne Ladd and wife Gert of Stephens City, VA, Don Ladd and wife Rita of Mechanicsville, MD, Dennis Ladd and wife Pat of Mooresville, NC, Steve Ladd of Greenleafton, MN, Mike Ladd and wife Jackie of Nickerson; five sisters, Sharyn Duncan and husband Ron of Baltimore, MD, Candace Janka and wife David Janka of South Milwaukee, WI, Pat Weeks and husband Gary of Waterloo, Kathy Taylor of Blair, and Debbie Johnson and husband Brian of Grand Meadow, MN.
Memorials were to be given in his name.
Graveside services were Friday at 2 p.m. south of Danbury at the Sherman Cemetery in Decatur County, KS.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
