Oliver Daniel Forbes passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Children's Hospital in Omaha, NE just shy of his first birthday.
Oliver was born February 11, 2022 in McCook, NE to parents Tyler and Joslyn Forbes. Even though Oliver’s time on earth was short, he was deeply loved by family, friends, many doctors, nurses, and medical professionals who cared for him. He had a smile that would light up the whole world. His love for life was so big. Like an eternal flame, he left a light in every heart he touched. During his time on earth, he brought so many people closer to their faith. He was able to create love between family and friends.
Oliver was always smiling. He loved everyone. His cousins were his favorite people. Food and toys were his favorite things, like his toy corn rattle. Wherever you found Oliver you found his corn. He knew how to make you laugh – even if it was shaking his head no at you, sticking his tongue out, or acting a little shy.
Oliver underwent two open heart surgeries, 6 heart catheter procedures, many echos, and cardiology appointments. All of this gave us one whole year with his smiley self. Oliver was thought of as a warrior by many. His scar was only shown as a symbol of all the fight he had. Oliver lived a fulfilled life and brought many memories to his family.
Oliver was preceded in death by one great great grandma Twila Steinbrink, four great grandparents, Dean Forbes, Virginia Hanes, and Dan (Shirley) Vogel; as well as his grandfather, Jason Pierce.
Those left to celebrate Oliver’s life include his parents, Tyler and Joslyn Forbes of Culbertson, aunts and uncles, Dustin Forbes of Culbertson, NE, Schyler (Jessi) Vogel of Palisade, NE, Austin (Ariel) Forbes of McCook, Taylor Pierce and Chance Hiatt of Indianola, NE and Abbey Whipple of Trenton, NE; grandparents, Chuck Forbes of Norcatur, KS, Mary Forbes of Culbertson, NE, and Traci (Jason) Whipple of Trenton, NE; cousins, Brylin, Wade, Arvil and Skielyn; great grandparents, June Forbes of Norcatur, KS, Ed Hanes of Trenton, Connie (Tom) Bryant of Wayne, OK and Melodie (Bud) Pierce of Stratton, NE; great great grandfather, Rex Steinbrink of McCook and numerous extended family members.
