Opal Agnes Dolan, age 90, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the Cambridge Manor in Cambridge.
Opal was born on August 31, 1926 to Peter T. and Mary C. (Giespert) Schneider in Hayes County, Nebraska. She was proud of the fact that she grew up in a sod house. She graduated from Hayes Center High School in 1944.
On November 1, 1947 she married Daniel Dolan in McCook. To this union one son was born.
Opal was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society, the American Legion and the Grand Generation.
Opal had a gift of hospitality. In their early years on the farm nieces and nephews enjoyed spending time there and in later years it was the grandkids. Anyone who stopped by was always welcome to a good home cooked meal. She took care of her parents and in-laws in their last years and watched grandkids often. She was a hard worker, side by side with her husband raising hogs, taking care of a big garden and canning. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting and reading.
Opal is survived by son, Paul Dolan and wife, Debbie of Indianola; sister-in-law, Irene Schneider; six grandchildren, Lisa (Spencer) Neely, William Dolan, Theresa Dolan, Krista Dolan, Katie (Jon) Hofer and Magan Dolan and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel in August 2002; brothers, Victor Schneider and wife, Betty, Howard Schneider; and sister, Delyla and husband, Lawrence Weskamp.
