Opal Tincher

Opal Pollmann Tincher, age 94, of Culbertson, NE., was called to her heavenly home on Monday, November 19, 2012 in McCook, NE.

Opal was born on May 13, 1918 to Albert and Emily (Wilcox) Steffen at Diller, Nebraska. She was one of five children. She attended school in Culbertson, graduating in 1936. On December 1, 1937 she married Henry Pollmann Jr. They lived on farms at Culbertson and later at Stratton where they raised their five children: Melva Esch, Robert, Dewayne, Kathy Metzger and Jerry (Mel) Miller. She was a member of the Culbertson Trinity United Methodist Church for 77 years. She enjoyed gardening and always enjoyed having all generations of her family visit, especially during their summer vacation.

Henry preceded her in death on July 15, 1982. On April 6, 1985 she married Lawrence Tincher. They made their home in McCook, Nebraska until his death in May 1995. Opal enjoyed participating in various women's clubs and organizations over the years.

Preceding Opal in death were her husbands Henry Pollmann Jr. and Lawrence Tincher; her son Dewayne Pollmann; her sons in law Harold Esch and John Metzger; her brothers Rex and Neal Steffen; her sister Alberta Steffen; her parents Albert and Emily Steffen; her sister in law Hope Steffen; and her great grandchildren C.J. and Andrew Esch.

Survivors include Opal's brother Glen Steffen and his wife Esther of Fort Collins, Colorado; her sister in law Pat Steffen of Arlington, Texas; her children Melva Esch and Jerry (Mel) Miller of McCook, Kathy Metzger of Lexington, NE, Robert Pollmann and fiancé©e Patsy Miller of St. Paul, Minnesota; daughter in law Nola Pollmann of Lincoln, NE; and step children Harold (Mary) Tincher of Plymouth, MA, Larry (Lynda) Tincher of Broken Bow, NE, Charles (Elsie) Tincher of Wichita, KS, and Mary (James) Kalb of Kearney, NE. Opal is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, forty one great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, extended family and friends.
