Biography

Orville James "Jim" Mockry died Sunday, October 28, 2007 at Community Hospital in McCook. He was 53 years old.

Jim was born on April 2, 1954 at Longmont, Colo., to Orville Hugo and Donna Berdena (Vandervort) Mockry. He graduated from Johnson County High School, Buffalo, Wyo., in 1972.

On May 28, 1977, he married Nita Kay Webb in McCook. To this union three children were born. She died on April 21, 1995. On September 11, 1999, he was united in marriage to Julie Ann Herman in McCook. He became step-father to two more daughters. They made their home in rural McCook. He was employed as a farmhand and worked for Red Willow County Fair Grounds.

Jim attended First Assembly of God. He was a Boy Scout as a child. He loved spending time with his horses and mules. His most pleasure in life came from being with his family especially his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Nita Kay; his maternal grandparents, Bill and Bessie Vandervort; and paternal grandparents, Otto and Irena Mockry.

Survivors include his wife, Julie Ann Mockry of McCook; his son, Jamie Mockry and wife, Theresa, of McCook; daughters, Cynthia "Cyndi" and husband, Jesse Carlisle, Caitlyn Mockry, and Colette and husband, Travis Balderston, all of McCook and Stacey Brown of Kearney; parents, Orville and Donna Mockry of McCook; two brothers, Randy Mockry and wife, Wanda and Robert Mockry and wife, Angela, all of McCook; two sisters, Nancy and husband, Charlie Collins and Mary Sue and husband, Bob Wurster, all of McCook; ten grandchildren, Desarae, Ashlyn and Rylie Balderston; Lane and Kylee Brown; Joslyn Rivera; Aaron, Anita and James Mockry and Callie Carlisle; numerous nieces, nephews, family and a host of friends.

Memorials were to be given in his name.

Funeral services were Friday, November 2, 2007, 10:30 a.m. at the Kiplinger Arena in McCook with Pastor Eddie Wright officiating. Burial took place in Riverview Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
