Pauline “Pat” Joan (Huss) Glebe, age 86, of McCook, NE, formerly of Stratton, NE, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Community Hospital in McCook.
Pat was born in Stratton on November 3, 1935 to parents Paul M and Mary Leona (Heilers) Haller. She was one of six children who were raised on the family farm south of Stratton. Pat graduated from Stratton High School with the Class of 1953.
On August 3, 1954, Pat married Donald Huss in Stratton. The couple made Herndon, KS their home and were blessed with three children. Donald preceded Pat in death.
Pat married Verlyn Glebe on April 24, 1981. Pat and Vern lived in Utah, Oklahoma and Texas before making Stratton their home in 1988.
Following Vern’s death in 2011, Pat continued to reside in Stratton and remained active in the community. Pat’s love of cooking and helping others led to many different employment opportunities over the years. While living in Herndon, she worked as a school cook. Following a move to Vernon, TX she cooked at a minimum-security prison. Then upon moving back to Nebraska, she cooked at the Stratton senior center. Pat enjoyed welcoming new families to the Stratton community and did so by creating welcome baskets through the Chamber of Commerce. She had a love for people, most importantly her family. Pat moved to McCook in 2018.
Pat was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in McCook, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stratton, St. Teresa Circle and St. Pat’s Altar Society. She is a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 0281 and VFW Auxiliary Post 9155, both in Stratton, as well as the VFW Auxiliary Post 1368, Herndon.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Donald Huss and Verlyn Glebe; son, Michael Huss; granddaughter, Tara (Huss) Emert; brother, Frank Haller; and sister, Dolores McKain.
Those left to celebrate her life include her children, Patrick (Debra) Huss of Langley, OK and Paula (Rod) Sramek of LaCrosse, KS; brother, A.J. (Brenda) Haller of Grand Island, NE; sisters, Marjorie (Bob) Grimm of Hoxie, KS and Midge Forbes of McCook; in laws, Darlene Albrecht, Vaughndel (Melvin) Abel, Annie (Larry) Fouts, Norbert (Barb) Glebe, Joanne Malone and Celene Dunker; seventeen grandchildren; four great grandchildren, with one due in June; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and lifelong friends.
Visitation, with family present to greet friends, will be held from 5-7pm on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook.
Recitation of the Rosary will follow visitation, beginning at 7pm at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, McCook, with Father Gary Brethour and Father Dale Allder as Celebrants. The family would like to invite everyone to a lunch in Pat’s honor following Mass.
Burial will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Herndon, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated to the Pat Glebe Memorial Fund for the Needy, c/o Paula Sramek, 819 Maple Street, LaCrosse, KS 67548.
