Patricia J. Hecox, of McCook, died Saturday, December 17, 2005, at Community Hospital in McCook. She was 59 years old.

Patricia was born on July 24, 1946, to Edwin Eugene and Shirley Patricia (Otis) Bacon. She graduated from Cozad High School in 1964 and Hastings College in 1968.

On December 28, 1969, she married Steve Hecox at Banner Methodist Church near Gothenburg. To this union four children were born.

Patricia taught elementary school for three years and was a paraprofessional for Special Education. She taught piano lessons, played the piano for the church choir and worship team, directed the bell choir, and accompanied high school chorus and contests. She was also a sales clerk for Peterson’s Grocery Store in Gothenburg and later for McCook Pharmacy & Medical Supply before her retirement.

She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Eureka Chapter #86 Order of Eastern Star, Past-Bethel Guardian of Bethel #28 Jobs Daughters, and P.E.O. Chapter FA.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Edwin and Shirley Bacon; and one daughter, Brooke Kathleen Hecox.

Survivors include her ex-husband, Steve Hecox of Gothenburg; son, Bryan Hecox and wife, Michelle, of Brady; two daughters, Barbra and husband, Jason Jones, of Waterloo, Iowa and Brenda and husband, Andy Cochran, of Grand Island; three brothers, Charles Bacon and wife, Margaret of Lincoln; David Bacon and wife, Ginny, of Holiday Island, AK; and Gregory Bacon and wife, Carla, of Overton; and three grandchildren, Lauren, Braden and Alex.

Memorials were to be given in her name to the Order of Eastern Star or Memorial United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial took place at the Peckham Cemetery, Gothenburg, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Janie Freeman officiating.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
