Patricia “Patty” Anne Zimmerman had her heavenly homecoming on November 3, 2024, in McCook, NE.
Patty was born on December 30, 1950, to Robert and Lorna (Stewart) Wagner. She was welcomed by her older brother Mike. A few years later, she became a big sister to Mary Beth. After her father’s passing, Lorna remarried Raymond Trupp and added siblings Sharon, Jim, Kathie and Karen to their family.
Patty graduated with the McCook High School Class of 1969. In 1970, she moved to Whitter, CA to attend business school. On August 19, 1975, Patty married Ira Zimmerman in Denver, CO; together they raised one daughter, Jessica. Patty and Ira shared 34 beautiful years together until his passing on September 21, 2009.
After returning to McCook, Patty continued to help her family at Ed’s Grill. While working at Ed’s Grill she was offered an opportunity to work for Harris Serum which eventually became Cornbelt Chemical Co. and then Van Diest Supply Company. She officially retired on March 1, 2020, after 50 years of dedicated service.
Patty was very strong in her faith. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in McCook. Patty was a Sunday school teacher for many years, and she also sat on the Board of Deacons, Board of Trustees, and served as the Church Treasurer.
Patty was very generous to everybody in her life. There was never a baby she didn’t want to snuggle. Patty was an amazing aunt to her nieces and nephews, and was a very loving Omi to her grandson, Gunner. She loved watching Disney and western movies in her free time, enjoyed singing along to her favorite artists like Elvis Presley and Elton John, and cheering on the Huskers and Green Bay Packer football teams.
Patty left a multitude of family and friends to continue her kindness and caring, including daughter Jessica (Gary) Gramins and her beloved grandson, Gunner of McCook, NE; brother Mike Wagner of McCook, NE; sisters, Sharon (Steve) Frimann of Stapleton, NE, Kathie (Dick) Cappel of McCook, NE Karen (Maury) Allen of Surprise, AZ, and Mary Beth (Jim) Carlson of Lincoln, NE; brother-in-law, George Zimmerman of Red Bluff, CA; and sisters-in-law, Rachel McBride of Elko, NV, and Grace Carse of McCook, NE. Also left to celebrate Patty’s life are 27 nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews and many friends.
Waiting for her in heaven were her husband Ira and infant daughter Rebecca; her parents, Robert and Lorna Wagner and Raymond Trupp; brother Jim Trupp; mother and father-in-law Ross and Doris Zimmerman; grandparents, Jacob and Clara Wagner, Roy and Hazel Stewart and Conrad and Edith Trupp as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.
